MAHLE Celebrates Expanded Advanced Engineering and Research Capabilities
Governor Granholm visits the home of 130 high-tech jobs at Farmington Hills facility.

Farmington Hills, Mich., May 5, 2005 - MAHLE Technology, Inc. celebrated the completion of a 28,000 square-foot expansion of its Research and Development Center in Farmington Hills. The additional engineering capabilities realized with the recent acquisition of the Cosworth Technology, Inc. were also recognized.

During today’s dedication ceremony that was attended by the Honorable Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor, State of Michigan, Prof. Dr. Heinz K. Junker, Chairman of MAHLE’s Management Board, emphasized the significance of these events to employees and guests attending the dedication ceremony.

"This new facility exemplifies our commitment to serving the requirements of our automotive and heavy duty diesel customers for superior engine products from a location that is close to their development facilities," said Junker. "It also demonstrates our commitment to the State of Michigan, and gives us access to a highly-trained work force that enables MAHLE to continue bringing innovative and highly engineered engine products to our customers. The acquisition of the Cosworth Technology Group represents another module of MAHLE’s long-term company strategy of becoming a system supplier of engine technology and engine systems."

The Farmington Hills Technical Center serves as the base for MAHLE’s sales and product development activities for all of the company’s Product Lines including:

  • Cylinder Components
  • Valve Train Systems
  • Air Management Systems
  • Liquid Management Systems

Advanced engineering professionals provide a complete range of services from product design and development to application engineering and on-site customer support.
MAHLE Technology, Inc. and Cosworth Technology, Inc., which will be renamed to MAHLE Powertrain, Inc. as of July 1st. are part of MAHLE’s worldwide research and development network that includes facilities in Germany, Brazil, UK and Japan.
